Cara Miller has spent 25 years on every side of the health and aged care system – as a clinician, a founder, a national regulator, and a hospital CEO.
Since 2016 she has been a member of the AHPRA Medical Radiation Practice Board, serving as Chair for over four years with continued appointment to 2029. She also served on the EPA Radiation Protection Committee.
Before becoming CEO of North Eastern Community Hospital, Cara spent four years as a board director, including Deputy Chair. She now leads NECH as CEO, managing a $39 million operation across acute and aged care – turning the organisation from deficit to surplus within a year and delivering full accreditation compliance across both services.
Her path there ran through entrepreneurship: in 2007 she founded Sound Radiology, the first female-led comprehensive private radiology practice in South Australia, building it over 13 years selling more than 30x EBITDA.
That range – founder, regulator, board director, CEO – is what she brings to every board table and advisory engagement: someone who has sat on both sides of the table on restructure and accreditation, and can navigate that complexity for others.
